Problem --> Solution --> Implementation This is the general flow of activities to improve business performance. In this sequence, Implementation does not always get the attention it deserves. Understanding problems and finding and developing solutions take a lot of time and resources. And there is such a sense of relief when we finally figure everything out! But then we need to expend effort on Implementation to be successful. Since the technical aspects of a project are predictable for the most part and thus can be put on a time line, that's where we tend to focus our efforts. We understand the technical side, and we can manipulate it. If something goes wrong, we know how to "fix" it. Examples include software, hardware, and procedures. Unfortunately, time spent on the technical aspects is at the expense of time spent on the "people" aspects. If our efforts to introduce a system or modify an existing one fall short, we may find that the old way is too much a part of the culture for people to let go. Or perhaps those affected don't see how it will benefit them and the company. Or maybe the training was inadequate. Or it's possible that those whom the changes affect the most were not brought in at the beginning to get their input. Later, those who initiated the changes may not show their commitment. We have developed a Model for the Implementation of Human Systems and Processes consisting of three steps:
The Model for the Implementation of Human Systems and Processes should be used any time a change is planned. "Your decisions are
